Optimizing the photographs taken during your wedding event is something that every couple desires.  But how do you take full advantage of your venue photographs?  The venue location probably has ideal spots for photographs and there may be some angles that you also want to consider.

What Makes a Location Popular, May Make Your Photos Pop!  The above photograph of the couple near the cab was taken near their wedding location at the Tribeca Rooftop.  New York City is known for its yellow cabs and is a popular feature of many television series and movies filmed in the “Big Apple” and has even been a central theme and title used on the big screen too! This idea can carry to trolleys if you live in places like San Francisco or Savannnah or near jets if you are married on an Air Force base.  This couple choose to be elegantly photographed near a taxicab, which turned their big city icon into memorable art!

Red Brick Makes a Colorful Background.  If your venue is in or near a brick building, make sure to get these colorful tiles in a few of your photographs.  The bride’s white dress looks even more luminous against the mosaic-colored tiles and since her bridal bouquet is a solid red color it really makes the couple stand out.  Also, the green stems match the neatly cut grass, which also gives the picture more dimension and that perfect blend of man-made and natural aesthetics.

Getting Above the Action!  Many photographers would agree that photograph diversity will help them capture unique memories of your event.  To increase the diversity of your photographs it is essential to take photographs from different angles.  If your photographer has the right equipment, then he or she should be able to take pictures from an angle above your guests head.  Doing so will help capture the movement of the room and the depth of the venue space.   You can see your guests dancing in the corner or how elegant your room looks with seated guests.  Speak to your photographer about literally going above and beyond for your wedding photos!

As St. Patrick’s Day approaches, events and weddings are daring to “go greens.”  Different shades of green can be both temporally and seasonally apropos.  A lighter, more pastel version of green can convey spring, while a richer forest green hue can easily fit into your winter and fall decor. The color green is often blended with shades of blue and yellow to create shades of summer, like teal and grass-colored green.

If you want your event decor to stand out, then you can definitely turn it up a notch by adding a pop of color in shocking neon green.  It’s no surprise that green is used for different occasions and is probably the most popular color you’ll see at an outdoor event in a tropical or temperate climate!  Set against the right background or used with expert lighting, green can make your event appear both formal and fun – Go Greens!

So, you’re in the midst of planning your fabulous wedding day and probably envisioned your walk down the aisle.  Many couples choose to have flower-adorned chairs, benches, pews, stanchions, and other items as they make their way down the aisle. But the pretty floral arrangements don’t always have to begin there.

For your indoor or outdoor wedding or for any event, if guests have to travel on a somewhat private road or pass gazebos or columns, then you might consider decorating these structures as you would a traditional aisle.  Adding floral arrangements and other decor to the route that your guests will take is almost like getting off a plane in Hawaii and being greeted with leis.  These floral garlands give you an instant connection with the location and decorating various structures en route to your wedding or event destination can give your guests an instant connection to your special day.

Before your reception begins, you may consider having a place card table.  This is a great way to inform guests of where they are seating before they actually enter into the reception area.  You should also consider that this may be the first visual element that guests will see before you are introduced as a married couple, so it makes sense to include a beautiful floral arrangement along with your place cards.

The floral design can be as elaborate and as simple as you like, but serve the purpose of warmly introducing your guests to your event space and also preset the tone of the actual reception. Guests who congregate around a central spot will be more likely to talk and get to know one another too, so you’ve essentially turned your place card table into a temporary social hub!  This is the type of activity that guests who are arriving as a single can appreciate, since often times they are placed at tables where they may not know a lot of people. Your floral centerpieces can be a topic of discussion and a great icebreaker!

Many brides use fairytales as a foundation for their wedding ideas.  Whether you are thinking of fashioning your wedding gown after Cinderella’s ball gown or having a guest list that could fill a palace, make sure to consider all of your options.  You may think that some ideas are out of reach, like recreating the Enchanted Forest.  Of course with a bit of collaboration between you and your experienced designer, you’ll be able to create this magical effect by including a few key elements of your favorite fairytale and blending them all together.

These surreal creations can be both decorative and functional.  Just ask yourself what elements in my theme can serve a dual purpose?  Can a centerpiece work as a place card holder? Can decorative flowers encasing napkins, also enclose guest favors?  More importantly can these elements artfully and tastefully work with my overall theme? Interpreting the very roots of your imagination is possible and you need not eat a suspicious apple to get to your happy ending and dream wedding!

Wedding Maker’s designs are inspired by art, nature, history, trends in floral designs and more!  Our process blends artistry with fluid techniques and we constantly aspire for new innovate designs!  These latest creations are two centerpiece designs that use Phalaenopsis Orchids atop a Manzanita tree (California origin) and Dendrobiums Orchids in varying geometric patterns with layering.

Which one is your favorite? Go ahead and vote through our poll!
